  • approximately 1.5-2 kg saved cooked bones
  • frozen clean vegetable trimmings
  • 1 onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 30 mL apple cider vinegar
  • water sufficient to cover

Optional

  • salt only after cooking, if desired

Method

  1. Thaw ingredients safely in the refrigerator when appropriate.
  2. Place the bones and vegetables in the slow cooker.
  3. Add the vinegar.
  4. Cover with water without overfilling the cooker.
  5. Cook continuously according to the appliance's own instructions, approximately 12-24 hours.
  6. Strain thoroughly and discard the solids.
  7. Cool the broth promptly.
  8. Refrigerate or freeze in useful portions.
