A lifter who already has real training experience and no competition date doesn’t have to run a Foundation phase they’ve effectively already completed elsewhere — Growth is a legitimate, real entry point for genuine training experience, the same way Perseverance Barbell lets an experienced lifter enroll directly into its advanced phase. Peak isn’t a phase to enter cold, though: its whole design trims an existing volume base under a deficit, it doesn’t build one — see training during the cut for exactly what it assumes is already there.

Two real, sourced reasons the squat and the hip thrust both stay in the program rather than one replacing the other. First, EMG evidence: a hip thrust performed at an estimated 10-rep max activates the upper and lower gluteus maximus roughly two to four times more than a back squat at the same relative load — Contreras, Vigotsky, Schoenfeld, Beardsley & Cronin (2015) measured 69.5% vs. 29.4% mean upper-glute activity and 86.8% vs. 45.4% mean lower-glute activity, hip thrust over squat, in the same lifters. Second, a real hypertrophy-outcome study, not just muscle activity: training the hip thrust and training the back squat for several months both produced real, similar gluteal muscle growth, each exercise transferred strength best to itself, and both transferred similarly well to the deadlift — Plotkin, Rodas, Vigotsky et al. Read together: the hip thrust is the better direct glute-activation tool, the squat is not obsolete because of it, and a program that keeps both is making a real, evidenced choice, not hedging.
Lateral raise, not overhead press, is the real driver behind the shoulder-cap look — worth being precise about, since the overhead-press pattern is what the equipment- adaptive table above frames as this program’s shared barbell backbone. A barbell or dumbbell overhead press trains the anterior (front) deltoid predominantly; the “slight cap on the delts” the NPC’s own Bikini rules describe is a lateral (medial) deltoid effect, produced by raising the arm out to the side, not overhead. This program keeps a press pattern in every upper session for the same general-strength backbone every Discipline Physique division shares, and adds direct lateral-raise volume specifically for the judged look — two different exercises doing two different real jobs, not one standing in for the other.
